Our clients at COSIA (Canada’s Oil Sands Innovation Alliance) have been nominated for a 2014 Responsible Canadian EnergyTM Award for their use of LEAP in the Algar Restoration Pilot Project!
The Responsible Canadian EnergyTM Awards are presented annually by The Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers (CAPP). CAPP is the voice of Canada’s upstream oil, oil sands and natural gas industry. It represents companies both large and small that explore, develop and produce crude oil and natural gas across Canada. On behalf of the industry, CAPP advocates for and enables economic competitiveness and safe, environmentally and socially responsible performance.
Each year CAPP celebrates outstanding work by CAPP member companies and recognizes leadership in environment, health and safety, and social performance through their Responsible Canadian EnergyTM Awards. The 2014 awards are being handed out at a dinner event on May 21. For more information about Responsible Canadian EnergyTM visit http://www.capp.ca/rce/
COSIA has utilized LEAP to first establish current baseline footprint estimates for more than 32,000 km2 of boreal forest (the Southern Athabasca Oil Sands Area), then to guide restoration activities on the 56,915 hectares Algar area southwest of Fort McMurray. COSIA has recently completed their third year of restoration activities in Algar. This is the second awards finalist nomination in 2014 for this project!
Congratulations to our clients at COSIA and we wish them good luck!
